Acrlyic on canvas. 2007/8.

one of the recent series of works based around gym equipment. the work is a personal subject and something which enabled me to explore refelctions in still life. each painting is done with reference to an image, the image is made up of several photographs so i can capture wide angles, distortion and over emphasized bluring and depth. this is the widest spherical panoramic image yet.. the image was made up of around 10 photographs which i stitched together. often this feature of my work goes unnoticed, yet the viewer is left with a strange sence of closeness to certain areas of the composition.

as to the finished product, i battled with the surface right the way through, was a little rough for my liking! learn from the mistakes, make sure things are correct before you begin, or half way through you loose faith.

i use a selection of brushes an airbrush. liquitex soft body acrylics and mediums, and oil paints 2 ( not on this one tho)/... i dont have a tutorial no not really... i just paint it as i see it to begin with, then i try to take it further by imagining how the material is what is there that i cant see form the pic, all these things. i just paint it and repaint it till its right.

Just wondering, a question, how do you maintain these fine texture, for the paint not to get dry quick, to blend it smoothly w/o drying out fast ??? Thanks :)
Amazing job again !!! :wow:

thanks. well the paint does dry quickly a lot of the time. you can use mediums to slow it slightly. i am using acrylics beacause i am airbrushing, if i wasnt doing that id most definately be paintin with oils

Some times an artist is inspired, sometime he's humbled. Sometimes he considers putting down his airbrush for good knowing he'll never aspire to great works he sees. I'm a little of all three looking at your work. It's like studying magic and still being stumped. Very incredible.

I wont, that's for sure. It's sort of that Wayne and Garth meeting Alice Cooper thing, you know what I mean? If anything it'll just make me want to try that much harder.

once again, great work with the multiple depths of field and effective tonal manipulation. you take the viewer on a ride with this one with the spherical panorama creating really effective visual effects and illusions.

is this a new one ???

great technique, the lettering on the can and the best before date looks amazing, also the chrome part thats in focus around by the can is superbly done and very convinceing. The grip hatching would have drove me potty.

great work again.
