Deja Vu by hyper-tom Deja Vu by hyper-tom
medium: acrylic on board.
size: 27 by 45 inches.

this is a revisitation of a painting i did a year ago almost exactly called short bar...[link]
this is the image i nearly painted back then.

i wanted to do a relatively quick painting, so i could gain better understanding of how long work is guna take me...this took 2 weeks pretty much..

i am please with the outcome of the painting itself, when seen in reality it has a much better finish to it and hyperreality than the short bar piece. so its pleasing that my technique has progressed...

it currently has a satin finish, but i will apply more of a gloss final finish which will bring out the darks even more.

anyways, enough waffle, hope you enjoy.

Like many others commented, it's unbelievable that this is a painting! Beautiful work. I would greatly enjoy having an art work like that hanging in a study room.

I can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that a person can make something like this using paint.

Amazing work my friend, simply amazing.

I should probably never be allowed to see this in person. I don't know how I would avoid touching it.

I can't say anything when I look at this picture. I can't choose the right words that could even in a small way to give my delight. A brilliant picture, as well as with the rest of your whole gallery. :)

hi hyper tom, how do you achieve the
perfect blur as the bolt goes out of focus ?

to my experience, acylics is nasty to paint nice blurs

by no means is it perfect. most of the blurred area is done using airbrush, as apposed to paintbrush. so that helps i guess

really>? sorry.. haha.. for the blurred areas i use virtually all airbrush, and its no different to the rest of the painting , i jus use the information that the photo gives me, just like the rest of the painting.

Wowwee great work, some of the best hyper realism I've seen and such a young age and from rotherham.. just kidding, a great talent you have.
I thought my old airbrush tutor who was a professional illustrator was good, you just trumped him.

There was a time where I thought the japanese airbrush artists of the 80's like masao saito etc were the daddys of realism, but todays stuff blows it away.

My only criticism looking through your gallery, is that some of your reference photos kind of let your over all picture down a little.
It would be interesting to see how a hyper realist would tackle a still life situation.

i agree. i do find it very difficult to photograph the work itself one its completed if that is what you mean... thanks...

yeah I just noticed that a couple of reference pics didnt do your amazing work justice, and kinda held it back a little. Just my two cents and a little observation. Sorry to pic a few holes on a brilliant portfolio.

This is just unbelievable. If it wasn't for the progress shot in your gallery I would think that you're a liar!
