''NON -GM'' 2008 Painting Acrylic on Board 100cm by 100cm This is my second new piece towards my show next year. The painting took just over a month, and was at times possibly the most challenging composition i have ever undertaken.. It was challenging in that it is also quite vibrant compared to what i have been used to.. indeed the last couple of paintings have involved more colour, i wish to keep it this way, to create a vibrant show this time next year.the image here, is a bit too vibrant compared to the real thing. But this photo was taken at the unvarnished stage, so colours will deepen when varnished. I have never done a painting with as much text involved before. I tackled the text in various ways, masking out, hand painting, free hand airbrushing, and also for the smaller text, a complex stencil...[link] see what you think and drop me a comment. cheers.......... |

you got the plastic texture spot on in this, its a very convincing illusion of shiny plastic wrapping. I imagine with the gloss finish it enhances the illusion even further. For me i think this type of image and content really suits your style of painting, prob more so than the chrome still lifes.
that lettering came out very well.
now begins the varnishing process....
i like the outcome of these paintings more i must say, however i want to bring in emelents that were attractive in the chrome paintings, such as mass distortion, wide angle etc etc. i want to bring those elements into these works too.. as i havnt done so too much yet..
all the lettering took the piss, was a pain, there was so much of it, i was not really ware of this when i compiled the composition, but i must say when its infront of you, it is rather pleasing on my eye.
ever get tempted to paint a letter in upside down for the doubters?

i dont mind if people doubt, it means i have done a good job.. its when they genuinely wont believe that i get frustrated, at that point i let them believe what they want.

yeh the addition of some bright vibrant colour adds to it quite nicely, without being to heavy. i have gone from almost monchrome looking paintings to ones with more colour, so trying to work it gradually..
yeh one day maybe ul make the trip over to the plus one. or visa versa...
how did it go then, the show?
