TOM MARTIN

'typical composition'. acrylic on canvas. size 36 by 60 inches.

This is the most recent painting of my current series. It is the largest yet and in my opinion is the most successful yet. the overall surface is smoother than any I have previously done.

I am hoping to put this in the summer show at plus 1.

as usual so much is lost through the image of this, so i may take some close up pics soon and post them.

Daily DeviationAn extraordinary hyperrealist piece, typical composition by ~hyper-tom includes highly challenging surfaces (metal, glass and packaging) in an absolutely masterful way, composing the image on terms of depth-of-field and focus/off focus areas to create this impressive painting. looks great !!!

i like the way the viewer is drawn around the painting and forced to focus on the different elements and their fluctuating focal points.

the subtle reflection in the floor contrasts well against the more defined reflections of the glass and the metal, and the way the glass refracts the light to create abstractions in the glass is superb, especially around where the glass and the metal combine and merge.

what is the lettering done in ? thats impressive Tom

I think at an early stage of your career you have already came up with signature paintings that are instantly recognisable as a Tom Martin
wow - how do you get the writing so neat?

Really stunning work, Tom, incredibly well done!

I think Simon has perfectly summed up what makes it so wonderful, so dunno what i can add....except to say I think it's bloody amazing!

I look forward to seeing it 'in the paint' - lol

thank you. i am pleased with it generally
good good. thank you. not read simons comment yet.. but it will be in summer show at plus one on 10th june so u can see it there. thanks
wel the writing was done with stecil to get correct shape etc, so the stencil took ages to cut, but i spray through it lightly to get an outline, then remove the stencil and paint it by hand.
cheers matey. the lettering was stencilled to get the exact positioning 4 it and shape etc, cos it is soemthing that needs to be exactly right. then i spray it lightly to get an outline, then i remove stencil and paint letters by hand etc. then i did about 3 more colour glazes over it to incorporate shadows etc right accross the writing itself. then refine.
I've cut a few things out before... but to cut out all those letters and get them that exact? Very impressive and patient. I look forward to the close ups.
